The Cocoa Merchants' Association of America, Inc. ("CMAA") was started in 1924 as the main cocoa trade association. The founding members were importers and end users of cocoa beans in the USA. Our member companies now represent all stake holders in the cocoa supply chain from shippers and growers to the branded chocolate manufacturers and everyone in between, including banks, warehousemen, steamship carriers, and so forth on an international level.
The Association provides its members with the following services:
•Publications and regular updating of standard sales contracts for the domestic and international trade of cocoa beans and cocoa products.
•Administration of the Warehouse Inspection Program with professional monthly inspections of public warehouses storing the participating members' cocoa.
• Weekly publication of spot prices for cocoa beans and cocoa products.
• Arbitration facilities to settle disputes arising out of contractual obligations through a simple, fair, quick and low cost review and adjudication procedure by experts in the field.
•Information gathering and exchange center for important developments pertaining to physical operations of the cocoa trade, such as regulatory and traffic matters. - Representation of the importing trades' interest vis-a-vis the Federal Government and other government agencies, notably in such areas as Food & Drug Administration and U.S. Customs
•Maintenance of contacts with other similar trade organizations in the cocoa area in the U.S. and abroad
•Organization of educational and social gatherings, such as various seminars, annual Golf Outing & Dinner, Traffic and Logistics Seminar and the International Cocoa Conference
